Another moon is floating on the tranquil surface of the lake.
Here is the shore of the Lake Shikaribetsu in forest wilderness area in Hokkaido. The mountain lies over there is Mt.Tenbouzan, 1173 meters above sea level. It is familiar with the name "Kuchibiruyama (Mt. Lip)" because of its shape.
Higashiyama Kaii visited the Nordic countries in 1962, and felt attracted to clear lake and the mystery of deep forest, then he continued painting landscapes of there. Gesshou, the original piece of this print was painted in 1965, at the tail end of his Nordic countries series. It is a masterpiece which is represented nostalgia for the Nordic countries with the nature of Hokkaido. |
