History

1930

On June 15, He was born in Hiroshima Prefecture. He studied under Maeda Seison.

1961

His artworks exhibited at the 46th "Inten" exhibition won the Award of The Japan Art Institute.

1964

He was appointed to the "Dojin" of The Japan Art Institute.

1973

He was appointed as the professor of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music.

1989

He took office as the president of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music (~ '95).

1993

He was selected to the Person of Cultural Merits.

1996

He took office as a chief director of The Japan Art Institute.

1998

He was given the Order of Culture.

2001

He took office as the president of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music again (~ '06).
