Kinjou No Akafuji
This is one of the series of prints of Mt. Fuji which became her life work. She says that when she painted Fuji shining in the sun, she felt as if she were sketching in the company of the Ukiyo-e master, Katsushika Hokusai.
In this artwork, the mountain glows with colors even more vivid than Hokusaifs Red Fuji. The golden clouds stretched across the sky, and the delightfully crooked pine, bamboo and plum tree at the foot of the mountain seem to be praising its grandeur. |
